Tutorials, Thesis, and ISPs Sponsorship

Before contacting me please read the mentoring handbook located at this link: http://www.rackham.umich.edu/downloads/publications/mentoring.pdf

Though this handbook is intended for graduate students it contains universally applicable advice on how to receive good mentoring. Please pay particular attention to pages 8-14 to prepare for your first meeting with me.

In general, the initial step is for you to send me an email that includes a proposal describing your tutorial, thesis, or ISP ideas.  If that proposal fits with my expertise and tutorial load, I will email you to set up our initial meeting.  If our expectations and goals for the tutorial, thesis, or isp are in sync, I will expect you to provide me with a syllabus including a schedule of readings and assignments shortly thereafter. I also expect to be contacted the term prior to the requested sponsorship.

This page is still under construction. My guidelines, timelines, and expectations are quite similar to those described by Dr. Brain. Until completion of this page, please consult the "policies" link on Dr. Brain's webpage.

Additionally, this Research and Thesis Workshop by Dr. Stephanie Evans has excellent information to help guide your thesis work.
