For Florida Archaeology Month in March 2001, the Sarasota History Center hosted an exhibit, curated by Sarasota County Archaeologist Susan Lynn White. Supervised by Uzi Baram, four New College students brainstormed ideas for the exhibit, helped set up displays, and painted the walls with archaeological motifs.

The exhibit announcement:
Florida Archaeology Month 2001 “Protecting the Past for the Future”
Sarasota County Historical Resources is celebrating Florida Archaeology Month 2001 with “Florida Lost Tribes”, an exhibit of prehistoric and historic artifacts from the area as well as local artwork. This exhibit will feature the artwork of Theodore Morris who depicts Florida’s native cultures that have disappeared over time. Ted is a local artist from Sarasota, who works closely with Florida archaeologists to gather the latest information concerning artifacts and interpretations. Other local art includes the pottery of Dorothy Domingo. New College students help design this progressive exhibit which features the major cultural periods of prehistory as well as the history of archaeology in Sarasota County with a focus on the necessity of protecting local archaeological resources for future generations. The exhibit will run from March 3 to May 12, 2001 and will be located at Sarasota County Historical Resources, 701 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
